What Is Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold Laser Therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy or photobiomodulation, has been used for over 40 years in clinical settings. After gaining popularity in recent years, veterinarians have realized the benefits for the animals they treat.
This non-invasive treatment uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with skin and surrounding tissues, which can help accelerate the healing process.
The benefits are proven and include
- Reduced Inflammation
- Pain Relief
- Improved Blood Circulation
- Faster Wound Healing
- Tissue Regeneration
The procedure is painless, requires no heat or sedation, and often provides immediate relief for the animal.

Cold Laser Therapy Uses For Your Pet’s Relief
Our painless cold laser therapy treatment is the foremost in technology for your furry family member.
- Arthritis - As pets age, and depending on their breed, they may succumb to arthritis. And since pets can’t take the same medications humans can for pain relief, cold laser therapy is an amazing option
- Post Surgical Care - Immediately following a surgery, your pet can benefit from cold laser therapy. Not only does it promote healing to the area, but it also provides pain relief by reducing inflammation
- Acute Injury/Pain Relief - Most people will bring their pets in if they’ve been injured or have an emergency situation. Whether it’s a sprained or broken limb, or an open wound, cold laser therapy can help.
How Does It Work?
Cold laser therapy operates by emitting wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin’s layers to reach the damaged or inflamed area. When the lights interact with the cells it stimulates cellular activity which in turn boosts the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This is the energy center of the cell. When the ATP is boosted, it enhances the blood circulation in the area and treats the condition naturally.
When your pet comes to see us (after their diagnostics), they will lie comfortably on our table and we will run the laser over the affected area. They will experience no pain, and therefore need no sedation or restraint. Depending on the temperament of your animal, we will either use the laser directly on their fur/skin or right above it. Both methods have proven results and work very well.
The duration of treatment will vary depending on the animal’s age, needs, and condition. Some animals do well with one treatment a week, and others need 2-3. Most animals see results after just a few treatments but may require maintenance sessions for chronic conditions.
