As a pet owner, you have an innate sense of your pet’s health. You’re familiar with their routine, behavior, and medical baseline, so you also know when that balance is disrupted.
If you sense that something is urgently wrong with your pet, contact us right away at (407) 862-6892.
We’ll let you know whether you need to visit our Altamonte Springs animal clinic immediately, or if your pet can come in the following day for a checkup.
If you suspect that you might need emergency pet care, it’s far better to be safe than sorry. Some life threatening conditions and situations may appear to be mild at first, preventing many pet owners from seeking necessary emergency care.
After Hours Emergency Vet
Our Altamonte Springs vet clinic is well-equipped to provide emergency vet care during normal business hours. For after-hours, weekend, or holiday care, we recommend contacting or going straight to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Casselberry, which is open nights, weekends, and holidays.
At Westmonte Animal Clinic, your peace of mind is our top priority. We have a positive relationship with the Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Casselberry and trust in their ability to treat your companion and hospitalize them if necessary.

What is a Pet Emergency?
Some pet emergencies are obvious, such as getting hit by a car, taking a big fall, eating chocolate, being bitten by a wild animal, or suffering a serious laceration or burn injury. Others are less dramatic, but likely still require an emergency vet for diagnosis and treatment.
Please treat the following conditions and behaviors as emergencies:
- Heavy breathing/panting
- Coughing/gagging, as if trying to dislodge something from their throat
- No food or drink for 24 hours or more
- Straining to pass stool or urinate
- Not urinating or passing stool at all
- Sudden collapse and then getting up right after (this doesn’t always mean your pet is out of harm’s way)
- Bleeding from the nose, ears, or mouth
- Ongoing vomiting and/or diarrhea
In a true pet emergency, swift action can make all the difference between a tragedy and a close call.
If you observe any concerning behaviors, call Westmonte Animal Clinic at (407) 862-6892 and we will be happy to help.
